Vintage Railway Station Lamp Post and Lighting

There are still places in the world where were struck by the beauty and variety of their lighting features, a recent visit to the Llangollen & Corwen Railway mean visiting the Gorsaf Carrog Station Tea Room. Whilst on the platform, prior to the train’s arrival, we were astounded by the craftsmanship of the victorian lamp post which stands proudly at the center.

The lantern was authentically period with extended spigot arms which held the lantern body in a beautifully suspended position. This roof of the lantern also featured four additional glass panes to elegantly illuminate the station house.

Internally the lantern was configured for a gas light arrangement, which of evening will provide a lovely orange glow.  The wonderfully period attributes of the lamp post set, along with many others like it, have been the inspiration behind many modern designs, striving to retain the character and style of such timeless pieces.
