Getting to know your Lamp Post

Do you know the difference between your ladder bar, your junction box and spinning? No? Well not to fret, we have created this definitive guide to the garden lamp post, so you can understand each aspect and part on your newly purchased lamp post and lantern.

Garden Lamp Post Parts

1. Reflector Plate:

A specially designed reflector plate that sits within the roof of the lantern. This plate ensures your lantern is efficient as possible, by reflecting and directly light downwards to the desired area.

2. Lantern: 

Pictured above is the Victorian 2.3m Lamp Post with Black Lantern. This lantern has been created by hand using high quality steel and finished in a sleek midnight black finish. On this version, there are four corner finials with embellishments, two rounded ‘spinning’s’ and a central top finial.

3. Perspex: 

All of our lanterns for lamp posts are supplied with Perspex glass. We do this as it is stronger and less prone to damages during transportation.

4. Bulb Holder:

Each our lanterns come complete with an integrated built in brass bulb holder and channel. These bulb holders are created from brass and can be wired quickly and easily by a tradesperson.

5. Frog Collar:

The frog collar references the four metal legs and bracket which connects the lantern to the main lamp post.

6. Ladder Bar:

Originally used during the Victorian times by the Lamplighter who would rest his ladder against the bar, in efforts to ignite the lamp, nowadays these ladder bars are made from cast iron and used for decorative purposes.

7. Lamp Post:

The main lamp post has been created from 0.25” thick steel, which has been rolled into shape before being pre-treated and powder coated in black.  Each of our lamp posts come unwired but features a ready to use wiring channel which can be wired by a professional tradesman or electrician.

8. Base:

Crafted from cast iron, the base features embossed Victorian motifs throughout. The back of the base features a rectangular opening for a junction box to be installed into.

9. Fixing Plate:

Equipped with four pre-drilled anchoring points, it makes for quick and easy installation.
